Tanoli
The Tanoli are a tribe of the Tanawal valley region in the Hazara. The Tanolis are Arabic origin and descent from Abbas ibn Abd al-Muttalib , The paternal Uncle of Prophet Mohammad (P.B.U.H).The Most members of the Tanoli tribe reside in the former princely state of Amb in the Hazara Division of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa province of Pakistan, in the cities of Abbottabad, Khalabat Township, Haripur and its district, Mansehra, Battagram and Kohistan districts. A branch of the Tanoli tribe also resides in Kashmir, mainly in Muzaffarabad and Srinagar. Tanolis also inhabit the cities of Quetta and Karachi. They dominate the Tanawal-Sherwan belt.

why don't you go for a DNA test to validate your statement n why the heck are you using Tanoli as family name when you are Abbassi.
DeleteNew research suggests that Tanolis are Pashtun and were declared to be Barlas by British as a conspiracy theory to divide and rule. They migrated from Ghazni where a branch of Tanolis called Taniwal still resides. As such Tanoli or Taniwal are from Karlanri supper tribe of Pakhtuns. Can you quote some reliable sources declaring Tanolis as Abbasi.

ReplyDeleteNo doubt, Tanolis have a history and those who belong to this tribe should feel proud of it. but having said that it is the right of every Tanoli to trace its origin. Since there are conflicting opinion whether they are Abbasis or Pushtoon, the research work should, therefore, continue with authentic and acceptable references to reach a logical conclusion in this regard.

Tanawal is a valley in the Hazara,and the people living there are Called Tanoli, like people live in lahore are called lahori.
In Tanawal many tribes are living like Abbasis or Pushtoon.

Mr Asif the name of area tanawal is drived from the name of local tribe tanoli (in old time it is called mulk e tanawal) ruled by tanoli people. who are tanolies question is this the local tribe like pustoon and awans,yusufzais,swati etc etc are not tanoli but the offspring of BABA ameer khan tanoli is the true tanolies ruled that area of tanwal.....and my friend this is not fight of racialism this the history which we share with other we proud of it

Tanoli's are not pukhtoons or pushtoons whatever. Tanoli is a tribe. They have their own culture, system also there were nawab system as well. My grand mother usually told me about nawab etc but that time i was lil and now she's not in this world. May her soul depart in janat ul firdous.

ReplyDeleteTanoli are a tribe of the indus valley region that are a subgroup of the Hazarawal. Only genetic studies can confirm about their origination however based on historical data, likely they arise from present day Afghanistan who later migrated to indus valley area.
ReplyDeleteWhether any group of people who migrated from Afghan region to Indus valley region (present day Pakistan) had descendants from Bani Israel is not entirely proven.. it is just a theory. But its an interesting theory as this has been passed from one generation to another. Yousufzai (clan of Yousuf or Joseph) eg also thought to descend from Bani Israel.
I personally don't think any of Afghan based groups such as Hazarewal, Pakhtun tribes have any genetic linkage with Arabs. Ofcourse everything is theory and a genetic study need to be done of the people in the region.

You are saying right that Tanoli's are not Abbasi Abbasi is a different tribe and Tanoli's are Pashtuns they are the subtribe of Ghilzai clan it was proved some nonesense peoples are misguiding the peoples you know Tanoli's have another state which is ruled in the Dir state by the Nawabs of Tanoli my father told me that and he known history from Peshawar.I am from Sherwan kalan Abbottobad but our relatives also live in Dir,swat,swabi,buner,mansehra,Peshawar and Kohistan districts .Majorty of Tanoli speak Pashto in Peshawar etc. In Hazara divison Tanoli always speak Hindko language but in the districts of Mansehra they also speak pashto as well.

Ab hm very curious hy apny complete ancestory ko janny keliyay but it is very much difficult now because they were my great grandfather and his three brothers (jinko aesa suna hy jlawatan kia gya tha) and we haven't any clue except knowing the name tenawal
